I found this little place on the map by total accident while deciding on a route to visit my daughter in Louisiana.
Now I wish I had taken that route! The Chamber of Commerce in San Augustine told me that Calgary, Texas, a few miles to the north, was a Railroad Crossing of the now defunct Atchison-Topeka-Santa Fe Railway.
Nearby is Bland Lake.
If anyone knows the story of how this non-descript RR crossing
came to have the picturesque name of Calgary, please let me know!
